We are proud to announce the 27th Medical Olympics!
The Medical Olympics is a knowledge and critical thinking competition covering the entire spectrum of medical science. Students from all medical schools of Greece or abroad compete by answering questions of varying degrees of difficulty in order to highlight and reward the team with the best performance.
The participants will be invited to answer questions selected by the Scientific Committee of the Medical Olympics, which is made up of faculty members of the School of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace. The questions concern both basic knowledge and critical thinking of the contestants.
This year the 27th Medical Olympics will take place in the Amphitheater of the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May 2023.
The Medical Olympics is divided into 2 parts, which are separate competitions:
1. Preclinical part: Includes theoretical multiple-choice questions based on the basic biomedical sciences (e.g. Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Microbiology, etc.)
2. Clinical part: Includes questions mainly related to clinical cases, with an emphasis on understanding diseases, their diagnosis and treatment
The clinical part consists of 3 phases:
1st phase: Multiple choice questions.
2nd phase – Speed round: The 5 teams with the highest score advance. Multiple-choice questions on clinical content of increased difficulty in a predetermined time.
3rd phase: Interactive questions based on a clinical case.
Competition language: Greek & English
Who can participate?
All undergraduate students from Universities of Greece or abroad who have registered in the conference.
The students who are in the clinical years will have the choice of either the preclinical or the clinical competition (possibility to participate in both parts).
Participation may be either individual or in groups. Each group can consist of 1-3 people, of the same or different year.
Contestants with the highest scores in each contest will receive separate prizes. The announcement of the results and the awards ceremony will take place during the Closing Ceremony of the Conference.
